Adding this to the general open public comments. I have read then reread the Mayors comment on Facebook about civil engagement. I commend our Mayor for her ongoing positive attitude and decorum. Civil engagement is a conversation, with feedback appreciated to promote trust.
In the interest of wise fiscal spending, I offer these comments with observation.
This past month I’ve had family, then friends visiting from out of state and out of town (4 different parties to be exact). The drive has taken them on Prairie Street where the newly painted bike lanes exist. Everyone of them spoke of not knowing where to drive. Living in this neighborhood, I’ve seen a smorgasbord of use of the bike lanes and narrowed car lanes. It looks like an accident in the making. Biking against the flow of traffic is contrary to biking education. The ‘car’ lanes are not wide enough for larger vehicles/trailers to pass.
As city planning goes forward, think wisely and carefully on spending our dollars.
