I read and reread the opinion regarding Franchise Fees. I oppose the implementation of Franchise Fees by the city of Northfield for these reasons: 1) loss of control over my monthly Excel energy bill. I make every effort to contain and conserve. 2) tax exempt properties do pay special assessments as indicated for improvement of property 3)Franchise Fees have less restrictions than taxes as set yearly including public hearings x2 4) my Excel energy bill is between me/my property and Excel gas/electric. I do not trust the city of Northfield with their demonstration of unaccounted spending and costly projects. 5) I believe a Franchise Fee removes my voice. Special assessments are no fun but at the least there is control for my own property.
