I am writing to support funding of both the Food Access and Technology Access requests for CARES Act Funding. As a volunteer at the Food Shelf, and a CAC board member, I observe first-hand the positive effect that reducing the stress of food insecurity at this challenging time has for our neighbors. I have also delivered food to those who could not come to the Food shelf, and I think that having more locations to make it easier for our neighbors to access food support they need will help our community.
I also support the HCI technology request. Distance learning exacerbates the very inequalities in education that HCI, Northfield Promise, the city, NPS and others are working so hard to overcome. Eliminating barriers to access distance learning, through tech, wifi and accessible personalized support to navigate connectivity will hopefully lessen the inequities some.
