The closure of the 4th st bridge & part of Water st. is detrimental to businesses in the area and downtown who are already hurting due to covid restrictions.

By closing the bridge, the council is putting more people's lives at risk than leaving the bridge open. You would be restricting access for police, fire & emergency personnel.

I grew up in Northfield and people have been fishing off the 4th st bridge longer than I can remember.

You also eliminate parking by closing a section of Water street. Remember, the alleged "lack" of parking downtown?

It was stated councilors are worried about pedestrian safety in that area. That doesnt seem to be a very common issue. I work downtown and walk / drive over the bridge all the time and gave yet to encounter or see any issues.

It seems to me, this was a solution on search of a problem.

There are better options for creating outdoor dining spaces.

Keep the bridge open and let's support he downtown businesses the best we can.
