I would first like to say that it I found it difficult to navigate making a comment either through this ecomment platform or the option to sign up for a time to speak at the council meeting.It was not easy or intuitive and I got different answers depending on what I clicked on. At one point, I clicked on a link and was directed to a pdf document from Granicus that was not pertinent at all.
My comment is in opposition to the proposed ordinance to change the age of tobacco/ecig product purchase to 21 from 18. I am not a smoker and I would not encourage anyone to smoke tobacco or ecigs but I think that we need to have a consistent age of majority. If we consider a young adult to be responsible enough to enlist in the military, sign contracts and get married then we should consider them mature enough to make their own decision on whether to use tobacco or ecig products.
