I appreciate the time that the council and city staff, along with the representatives from the school district have taken to improve the overall flow of vehicular and non-vehicular traffic and goal of improving safety at this intersection. This project is warranted as an overall improvement to our community.

The council needs to review the goals and objective of this project and, bring in the entire corridor of Hwy 246 at the schools. This project attempts to address street/road crossing safety near the Northfield High school, which is needed. In past years the city has done some work to improve the crossing at the Northfield Middle School through a crosswalk, but is not being addressed as part of this project. While the addition of a crossing with some lights is an improvement, it doesn't appear to be considered as a part of this project. The road crossings through the entire corridor need to be considered, including those at the middle school
