I have emailed the council members but am unable to attend this meeting. I strongly object to the planned bike lanes and the removal of 170 trees in the College and 8th St. Project. There is little to no traffic on 8th St. and no need for a bike lane. It will needlessly destroy trees and needlessly waste our taxpayer money. In general, the desire for bike lanes makes no sense -- the ones in place are rarely used and the price of building the concrete barrier bike lanes is too high: less trees, ruined Northfield landscape, and less access to homes for services such as lawn services. Aesthetically, economically, and practically, these plans make no sense.
