I fully support the installation of the Parklet on the Northwest corner of Fifth and Division street, and the placement of the handicapped parking stall on the Northeast side. The parklett is already available and in storage, as it was not placed in front of the former Tandem Bagel this year. The new Raven's Nest Cafe is wonderful, and the anchor of Farmstead Bikes is going to bring a large amount of cyclists to come, relax, and enjoy our downtown. Parking is already an issue downtown. We know this, but the benefits of having folks lingering in the Parklet, and the traffic calming on the corner this installation will provide greatly outweigh the loss of two spots, and the movement of the handicapped spacing. There is additional parking at the Fifth and Washington lot. If this is implemented, we should consider two hour parking enforcement on Saturdays on Fifth between Washington and Water Streets, and encourage parking at the Fifth and Water street lots. Again, Fully in favor of this!
